ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A student must …

• be in the 10-19 age bracket.
  
• have a good basic ORAL knowledge of the Irish language and must be prepared to use it at all times while on the Cúrsa.
  
• undertake to abide by the Rules of Coláiste na Rinne and in particular ‘Riail na Gaeilge’ which promotes our primary aim.
  
• enter fully into the spirit of the Cúrsa.

PARENTS CAN HELP

In order that children derive optimum benefit from the Cúrsa, it is very important that parents actively encourage students to practice the use of basic Irish conversation in the period prior to the Cúrsa.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

A bus service will be provided from Dublin via Naas, Carlow, Kilkenny, Carrick-on-Suir to Coláiste na Rinne and return on the same route. Price will depend on numbers travelling, destinations, etc...circa €60 return. Balances, where applicable, will be refunded. Parents who wish to avail of this service must contact us in writing, 4 weeks, prior to the departure date enclosing S.A.E. for further details and fare €60. Please note: seats are allocated on a first come first served basis.

 

PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE

A premium for PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE is included in the Fee for the course.

RECREATION

We offer an extensive range of team games, individual sports and recreational activities including football, hurling, rounders, basketball, volleyball, pitch & putt, handball, tennis, table tennis, chess, draughts, swimming at designated beaches, céilithe etc. Informal games and recreation, such as treasure hunts, walks, competitions, etc., are organised on a weekly basis.

 

LAUNDRY

A limited Laundry service is available fore a nominal charge on a "pay by use" basis.

• 5% reduction for two or more children of the same family.
  
• A deposit of €150 is to be returned with completed application form, €100 of which is refundable if notification of cancellation is received 31 days prior to commencement date of selected course. After such time all deposits are non-refundable.
  
• Refund of full fees paid can be made only in exceptional circumstances.

PARENTS PLEASE

1 Read, explain and discuss the contents of this brochure with your child.

2 Impress on your child (children) the dangers involved in misbehaviour on the beach and especially in the water. Strict instructions are issued to all students here. Infringement of this rule can entail immediate expulsion.      We have a balanced step by step approach to the disciplinary process.

 

3 Advise pupils of their responsibility for their personal belongings and encourage respect for the College property.

4 Medical expenses are borne by the student/parents/guardians.

5 Open and prompt communication on matters pertaining to your child’s welfare and well being is vital and always welcome.

6 As FULLY completed applications are confirmed on a first come first served basis, it is advisable to return the Application Form without delay thereby avoiding disappointment in securing indoor accommodation on the Cúrsa of your choice. One application form per student – photocopies/faxes/emails not accepted.

THE RULES AND REGULATIONS AT COLÁISTE NA RINNE INCLUDE…

1 Students who do not make a sincere and honest effort to speak Irish will not be allowed to remain on the Cúrsa. This must be clearly understood by both parents and students.

2 Students may not…

• be absent from the course OVERNIGHT.
  
• leave the defined areas in which the course operates, with others, without specific written consent of their parents/guardians and special permission from An Oifig here.
  
• visit licensed premises, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, be in possession of alcohol/cigarettes/illegal substances while on the Cúrsa.
  
• have in their possession transistor radios, tape recorders, walkmans, discmans, mp3 players, hair straighteners, ipods, video games etc.
  
• chewing gum is forbidden for reasons of hygiene.
  
• become involved in, or encourage, inappropriate behaviour.
  
• students will be liable for any damage to property.

3 Students staying at Coláiste na Rinne should provide…

• duvet, one pair of sheets, a pillow case and a towel.
  
• rainwear.
  
• personal sports equipment, musical instruments etc., to avail of our facilities.
  
• hard covered copybook and biro.

4 Students may lodge pocket money in the College Bank. The Bank is open from Monday – Friday 09.15 – 10.00 only.

5 Company keeping – of an exclusive nature is not allowed and decorum is expected in behaviour and dress.

6 The use of mobile phones is restricted.

7 Good conduct is expected at all times. The Coláiste reserves the right to terminate the stay of any student for serious/persistent violation of college rules for any other reason judged to be in the interest of the common good.

8 The Rules and Regulations apply equally to pupils in the Coláiste, day pupils and those accommodated in houses sa Rinn.

COLÁISTE NA RINNE TEORANTA

Tá Cúrsaí Samhraidh ar siúl i gColáiste na Rinne ó 1909. Is é aidhm na gcúrsaí cainteoirí Gaeilge a dhéanamh de na Scoláirí a bhfuil staidéar déanta acu ar an dteanga chéanna agus caoi a thabhairt dóibh taithí a dhéanamh den chaint ó mhaidin go hoíche. Chuige sin ní mór dóibh an Béarla a shéanadh fad a bheidh siad sa Rinn. Ní oireann an obair d’aon duine nach bhfuil eolas maith aige / aici ar an nGaeilge agus fonn a labhartha go láidir ina chroí.

Tá de bhua ag Coláiste na Rinne go bhfuil na h-áiseanna ar fad do ranganna, lóistín, béilí, cluichí, caitheamh aimsire, céilithe, Aifreann, srl… ar aon láthair amháin.

Is deas linn go mbaineann Scoláirí – buachaillí agus cailíní – taitneamh agus tairbhe, ó bhliain go bliain, as tréimhse a caitheamh anseo, cois farraige, i nGaeltachta na Rinne.
